How Vincent's Deli Came to Be
Vincent DiFrancisco grew up in the deli business. His parents owned and operated a neighborhood deli in Queens, NY and he began working there at a very young age. By the time he was fifteen, he was managing the deli for his father. Even at that young age he managed to increase the store’s business significantly. When he reached adulthood, he purchased several failing delis and turned them around before selling each of them.
The Story of Vinny D
In 1995, Vinny and his young family moved to East Stroudsburg, PA where he opened Vinny D’s New York Deli and Catering. From 1995 through 2007, Vinny D’s became well-known all over the Poconos for its excellent product and its outstanding service. Under Vinny’s guidance, Vinny D’s won numerous industry accolades and awards and was recognized for catering excellence by receiving the Pocono Choice award for catering an astounding three years in a row. Vinny also worked hard to develop strong ties in the community, donating his time, his talent, and the resources of Vinny D's Deli to various community and charitable organizations.
Vinny sold Vinny D’s New York Deli and Catering to its present owners in 2007 and moved to North Carolina. During his five years in North Carolina, he worked as a media and catering consultant for several delis and restaurants, including Vinny D's, developing menus and media plans, as well as guiding these restaurants through their first forays into the Internet and social media.
In early 2013, Vinny returned to Vinny D’s New York Deli and Catering in East Stroudsburg full-time. Upon his return, he remodeled and refurbished the kitchen and dining areas, updated and improved its menu items, and made significant changes to increase the quality of both the food and the service. During his latest tenure, Vinny led Vinny D’s New York Deli and Catering in East Stroudsburg to its first Pocono’s Choice Reader’s Awards since his initial departure.
In October 2013, due to differences in management style and diverging visions of the future between Vinny and the deli’s current ownership, he left the East Stroudsburg deli and decided to open a new location in Tannersville.
